FCC Application Fee Effective April 19, 2022

Joyce Tarbell

Beginning April 19, 2022, the FCC will charge a $35.00 fee for new, modification, renewal, and vanity call sign applications.

The fees will be the responsibility of the applicant and must be paid within 10 calendar days of FCC's receipt of the application.  Volunteer Examiner (VE) teams will not collect the $35 fee or become involved in any way except to conduct exam sessions as usual.

New and upgrade candidates at an exam session will continue to pay the $10 exam session fee to the Western Carolina Amateur Radio Society (WCARS)-VE team as usual, and pay the new $35 application fee directly to the FCC by using the CORES FRN Registration system.

While we don’t know all the details of the new process, it would behoove you to take any exam prior to April 19.  If you are interested in having the Tellico Lake Amateur Radio Club schedule a test prior to that date, contact Allan Tarbell at atarbell@... or phone 865-458-8040.
