Mobile and Warning Light Installation

Brad (the Voice of the Village) Berger

Hello TLARC members,
Do you have a mobile radio sitting around waiting to be installed, but you're not sure who can help you?
Do you need warning lights installed on your vehicle to help with marathons, bike races, etc.?
I'm recommending you call Pete McGinley at (865) 816-4929  petemcginley929@...
Pete is a retired sergeant from the Loudon County Sheriff's Office and has installed hundreds if not thousands of mobile radios, light bars, and everything else you see inside and outside of a squad car. He has a shop at his home in Loudon and you won't be disappointed in the quality of work.

Silent Key Estate Sale

Kurt Meltzer

An amateur radio operator from our church, Paul Chapman KO4R, passed away recently and his wife asked Sharon and me for help dismantling Paul's station and finding new owners for his gear.

Paul had a nice assortment of rigs and accessories, which I will be selling on QRZ.com and eBay.com and shipping to buyers all over the country.

Before I begin offering these items to out of state buyers,  I've listed them at attractive pricing for a limited time on the SMARC website for any local hams who may be interested.  Items sold to local cash buyers can be priced lower since there are no taxes, fees or shipping expenses.

Please check out the "Radio Market" tab on the SMARC website      https://w4olb.org/radiomarket        and if you see any items you would like to inspect or purchase please contact me by text or email.  I'm available most days between 11am -11pm.

Items not sold locally will be moved to QRZ or eBay beginning in early December.

Thanks.

All,

Good afternoon!  Please disregard the message below, as I forgot to cancel the reminder alert.

There is no scheduled TLARC net this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  However, as always, you’re all welcome to convene on the repeater as you desire.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!

Subject: Tennessee QSO Party Report for 2022

Hello everyone from Tennessee Contest Group.
Thank you all for coming out to participate in the 2022 Tennessee QSO Party.
For the benefit of all, here is the report back to all the participants.  It is the attachment below in pdf format.

It was good to see all of you come out for TNQP and work you on the bands.
We will do it again next year on September 3rd, and we will be listening for you.  Propagation has really improved on higher bands, and that gives us the opportunity to play on bands like 15 and 10 meters which have not been very useful in recent years.

Best wishes and 73 until then.

Good afternoon!

I wanted to let y'all know I have decided to part with my old friend, my Kenwood TS-830S transceiver. As you probably know, it's a rock-solid radio from the "old school": with a hybrid transmitter. The tubes in the final have all been recently replaced.

I have not really been on the air with this radio in over 10 years and when I was, it was almost entirely on CW. I have decided not to let it just sit there and gather more dust.

I am asking $450.00 for it, which is a very fair price. I know radios of this age will probably need a tune-up and that is why I have priced it to sell as-is. Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks!

Re: Event: TLARC Weekly Net and Follow-on Zoom Chat - ***SEE UPDATED ZOOM LINK BELOW*** - Wednesday, November 23, 2022 #cal-reminder

Chuck Ferguson - N4CSF

Good evening, everyone!  I hope this message finds you well.

My apologies for mistakenly sending out the reminder below.  Based on our normal practice, TLARC does not hold scheduled Nets on Wednesdays of holiday weeks, like Thanksgiving.  We will resume our Net schedule a week from this Wednesday, on Nov 30.

As always, you are welcome to have your own local pre-Thanksgiving “rag chew” on the repeater, if you’re so inclined.  Also, you can use the Zoom link in the reminder to conduct your own video chat if you like.

Dianne and I wish you all the best as we enter this Holiday Season.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!!

73,
Chuck

Sabrent USB to rs232 work very well with Linux, and Windows without having to install drivers(the OS does it). If you can find a program under linux to connect to the radios. But you may need a null modem, and maybe a gender changer. It would be easier then installing Win 95.

SABRENT USB 2.0 to Serial (9-Pin) DB-9 RS-232 Converter Cable, Prolific Chipset, HEXNUTS -, [Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/VISTA/XP, Mac OS X 10.6 and Above] 2.5 Feet (CB-DB9P)
$9.99

DB9 null modem male to female slimline data transfer serial port adapter 2 Pack
$8.39 - 2 pack

WOVTE DB9 Female to Female Mini Gender Changer Coupler Adapter Connector Pack of 2
$6.99 - 2 pack
