Mike, It's Dan KO4AQI. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make clubs party. It's the same time as the TV Fire Dept's party.

Thanks,

REMINDERS:// TLARC November Meeting and Chili Cook-off/Dinner, Cracker Barrel Pre-Meeting Planning Breakfast, Holiday Party, and December Exam Session

Chuck Ferguson - N4CSF

Good morning, everyone, and Happy Saturday to you all!

Our November General Meeting and chili cook-off/potluck are scheduled for Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Chota Recreation Center in Tellico Village.  We have reserved Conference Room D from 1730 EST to 2000 EST.  All are welcome to participate and try out your house specialties on our fellow TLARC members and guests -- mild to hazardously spicy, various meats, and vegetarian variations are encouraged.  Please reply to this message if you intend to bring a chili offering.  The Club will supply bowls, napkins, and utensils, and you bring your own drinks and Maalox!!!  Doors open for arrival/setup at 1730 EST, dinner starts at 1800 EST, and the meeting convenes at 1900 EST.

Attached please find the final draft minutes from our October 20, 2021, meeting at Bert's.  Please review and comment to me as needed.  We will consider the minutes at the meeting for Club approval.

Again, all members and guests have a standing invitation to attend the Admin Team's pre-meeting planning breakfast at the Lenoir City Cracker Barrel this Monday at 0900 EST.  Please feel free to join us for breakfast, fellowship, and a fun time.

The TLARC Holiday Party and December General Meeting are scheduled for Saturday, December 4, 2021, 1730 EST, at Grain Bin Commodities (GBC) in Sweetwater.  The cost for the buffet is $20 per person.  Please RSVP to Mike Foley NLT Wednesday, November 17, 2021, to ensure we can provide a timely headcount to GBC for their planning purposes.

Finally, anyone desiring to upgrade their current licenses to General or Extra or test for their initial Technician certificate, please mark your calendars for the TLARC exam session on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, 1800 EST to 2000 EST, at the Chota Recreation Center.  All candidates must possess a current and verifiable FCC Registration Number (FRN) to participate.  Those needing to apply for an FRN can do so online through FCC's COmmission REgistration System (CORES) website.  We can provide the how-to steps for this, if you need help.  Please advise the Admin Team in advance if you intend to sit for an exam to help our Volunteer Examiners ensure all the necessary test materials and supplies are on hand to support you in this endeavor.  Please e-mail me with any questions.

Have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing you -- and your CHILI -- next week!!

Eclipse

Mike KK6OKU

A partial lunar eclipse is coming up this month – and it will be the longest of this century. The eclipse will take place overnight on November 18 and 19, when the moon slips into Earth's shadow for 3 hours and 28 minutes, NASA said. The late November moon is also known as the "frost moon."

That is really a great place! She has gourmet experience you wouldn't believe, including a stint with Martha Stewart!

If you ever have a chance to attend one of her gatherings, grab it. Her meals are special.

Santa Net on 3916 Mhz starting 11/26/2021

I found this on Fakebook, and I thought I'd pass this information along......

For the 16th consecutive year, The 3916 Nets will be presenting The Santa Net on 3.916 MHz. Good girls and boys can talk to Santa Claus, via amateur radio, nightly at 7:15 PM (Central) starting Friday, November 26, 2021. The Santa Net will run nightly through Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021.

Pete Thomson (KE5GGY), of The 3916 Nets, commented on The 3916 Santa Net. He said, "Christmastime and Santa Net is an exciting time on the 3916 Nets. Every year we connect hundreds of children with Santa and we’re looking forward to another busy year.”

Youngsters can talk to "Santa at The North Pole" via strategically placed operators who relay the voice of Santa. Thomson said that The Santa Net is a team effort that involves the efforts of a number of 3916 Net members. He said, "In our first year, we connected 10 kids to Santa on Ham Radio and it's grown steadily since. This year we’re hoping to connect over 1,000 children with Santa Claus."
Prior to each night's Santa Net, pre-net check-ins can be made at www.cqsanta.com Third party rules and regulations apply.

The Santa Nets are presented annually by The 3916 Nets. The Rag Chew Crew, The Tailgaters and The Freewheelers are all amateur radio nets that meet on 3.916 MHz nightly. For more information on The 3916 Nets, go to http://www.3916nets.com For more information on The Santa Net, email KE5GGY at Gmail dot com.
