Snowfall will continue late today and tonight and will be very elevation-dependent with many places seeing little to no accumulation. Across the highest elevations of the Tennessee mountains, snowfall accumulations in excess of 1 foot are expected. With these extreme snowfall accumulations, there could be power outages.

Current Watches, Warnings, or Advisories:
What has changed:  Updated the higher snowfall areas of the Cumberland Plateau and southeast Tennessee and southwest North Carolina with Winter Weather Advisories.

Primary Hazards
  • Hazard:  Heavy Snowfall Accumulations
    • What2 to 6 inches of snow over the foothills and 12 to 20 inches across the highest terrain and potential power outages in the highest elevations
    • WhereTennessee mountains and foothills from Monroe County to Johnson County
    • When: through early Saturday morning
  • Hazard: Lighter Snowfall Accumulations
    • WhatWidely varied snowfall totals from 2 inches up to 6 inches in the higher elevations.
    • Where: Southwest Virginia counties and Cumberland Plateau counties
    • When: through early Saturday morning.
